About us

Welcome to DK-Mom-NY, which is a group for Danish Women - With or without children, living in the greater NY area.

We are all from Denmark. We are all living in the Tri-State area. (NY, NJ, CT, PA) Many of us have American husbands and have made the US our new home country, however, in our hearts we will always be Danish.

Being in a cultural mixed relationship gives other "problems" and we feel it is important to have a network of Danish girls, who might be able to understand some issues our American friends cannot relate to, simply because they do not come from the same cultural background.

Please do not be fooled by the name; we are so much more than just a bunch of women, sitting around discussing diapers and baby bottles. We have a lot of arrangements, which are of interest for both women with and women without kids. Some of the things we do without kids are girls-night-out, Danish movie nights and lunches. And one of our newer things is our book club, where we read Danish books and then we meet to discuss them, normally over a nice dinner with a glass of wine – or two….

We also do family things, which we feel are important to our Danish heritage. We have our yearly Christmas Lunch with traditional Danish dishes such as æbleskiver, ris a la mande, herring with snaps, rugbrød etc etc. We have also had fastelavnsfester, BBQ parties and Easter lunches.
